Howdy. Welcome to my 720x480 NTSC Matte Painting Sketch Blog.

He. Jeff Thomann here. Those of you that may follow my works in some of my other blogs (see my profile) know that I like making sketches and doodles in MS Paint, Photoshop, and done by hand, and that I have a background in theater and painting. I'm going to tray to start doing some Matte Paintings in the Near future, and figured I should start a blog where I'll post links to the images that I'm doodling here that are rough NTSC composition sketches that I may later go back to and finish up as real Matte Paintings. I'm sticking with NTSC size so that I can see the whole image in mspaint on one screen when doodling without having to look at anything other than 100% pixel size in mspaint... no scrolling, etc... Also am doing this so that down the road, if I need to make up some a portfolio demo tape type of thing, I can get the stuff on vhs tape. I know some places are starting to move towards using dvds and cds more than vhs, but I hear that there's still lots of people out there that just use vcrs to look at demo tapes.

Working at 720x480 makes it easier to draw up compositional ideas. Most of the stuff here is going to be really rought sketchy ideas... but ideas that I can use later to finish up as real matte paintings... and if necessary, blow up to a bigger resolution that will still be 3:2 pixel aspect ratio.

If you don't know what pixel aspect ratios are and stuff, check this out:
